The Community Association for the
Welfare of School Children (CAWSC) is presented with a donation from
attendants of the Louisiana/Jamaica statewide conference. Pictured from

Members of Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc held the Louisiana/Jamaica statewide conference in Baton
Rouge. Each year the membership makes a contribution to a charitable
agency in the city where the conference is held. This year the Community
Association for the Welfare of School Children (CAWSC) was selected as
the recipient. The money comes from donations of the members in
attendance at the Sunday Morning Ecumenical Service.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a
private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services
and programs to promote human welfare. It has a membership of nearly
300,000 predominately African-American, college-educated women. The
Sorority currently has nearly 1000 chapter’s world wide. Gwendolyn K
Grant, of Houston, TX is the regional director; and Georgia Humphrey of
Alexandria, LA is the state coordinator. Soror Hazel J. Freeman and Mrs.
Mildred Clark of Baton Rouge are founders of CAWSC. The Community
Association for the Welfare of School Children is a 48 year old,
non-profit, social service agency providing services to children and
their families. CAWSC is located at 440 North Foster, Baton Rouge, LA.
